Feel the burn

We found a lovely new hiking area
about 20 minutes from Songtan.
Although we didn't get far
before the old man gave up.
Next time I look forward to delving
into the forest beyond.
This trail is also dog friendly.

Pointless Walk in The Woods

Roads and trails are wasted
if you only follow them on sunny days.
You miss half their stories
and all of their heart.

Busting their Chops

Pyeongtaek Restaurants

Where to Go: Braii Republic Anjeong-ri

We never really thought anything like this would come to our area, but here it is, our South African BBQ dreams come true. Not only that, maybe the best lamb pie of my life.  These guys don't pretend and they don't compromise.  You will be blown away.  Don't wait. Go eat this... every week.

Where: Near Camp Humphrys.  You can take the 20 bus from Pyeongtaek. Find the on Facebook at Braii Republic Pyeongtaek for a more detailed map.

Where to Go: Philadelphia Hoagies in Songtan

No weirdness, just real Philly Hoagies on homemade bread. We loved the beef pastrami, cheese steak, and the roast beef.  Fries also delicious.

Pro Tip: Order the cheesesteak with hot peppers.

Address: Just off the strip, turn at the ugly ass gargoyles.

Home Happens

 Sometimes you're just working away,
in a far away country, in a far away land.
Then, one day, you discover your home.

Autumn in Pyeongtaek

This is what it's like,
to live in the Pyeongtaek countryside
in the fall.

Basically, it's pretty damn beautiful.

New Years Revolution

Pyeongtaek Lake New Years Celebration

When the sun rose above Pyeongtaek lake,
life looked much different than seasons past.
During the 2011 season I was just trying to breathe,
In 2012 I worked on moving forward,
and in 2013 all time was lost.
Now, in 2014 I have come full circle
and caught our tail.

The Harri-bou-bou and Diego Burrito
now share the marque
and I must figure how
what that means for my character.
Will this be a rom-com?
A drama?
A tragedy?
It's never really clear,
but it's most certainly worth watching.

What I do know is that,
as leading men go,
I'm certain I nailed the casting.

If Heaven Was a Jimjilbong

We took the path less traveled
and found it led to a magic Jimjilbong
of brown huts and hot coals.

The smell of smoke and clay
washed away our cares
as we lounged beneath
beneath the summer sky.

It was,
in a word,
epic.

Hidden Rachel.

A fire pit for cooking sweet potatoes.
Large out door shaded sleeping areas.

Wooden pillows.
A room with a view.
Heated rooms with stone floors.  They cost  little extra.

Cinderella's slippers
This is how they heat the rooms. Not the best summer job.
Iced green tea is perfect for an afternoon in the sun.
When it's all over, duck inside for a delicious lunch or dinner.
We are in love with this place.
